Alexander Boyd, age 87, passed away February 19, 2013 at his home in Wickenburg, Arizona. Mr. Boyd was born September 14, 1925 in New York City to Jackson H. Boyd and Harriet McCook Boyd. He attended and graduated from Woodberry Forrest School in Central Virginia and later completed his schooling at Princeton University. During World War II he served in the British Army in Burma. Mr. Boyd was a real estate developer and served as chairman of Union Deposit Corporation in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. He and his wife Jane came to Wickenburg in 1982. He was a generous man who made many notable contributions in Pennsylvania and Wickenburg. He donated 1000 acres to the State of Pennsylvania to create Boyd Big Tree Preserve in Dauphin County. He was very involved in the Wickenburg community. Alex was a member of the Desert Caballeros and had served as "El Presidente". He enjoyed golfing and was club champion on three different occasions at Rancho de los Caballeros. He and Jane were instrumental in the expansion of the Wickenburg Community Hospital and they donated the Boyd Ranch to the Desert Caballeros Western Museum. In 2010 Mr. & Mrs. Boyd were awarded the "Henry Award" for meritorious service to the Community. Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his first wife Anna in 1977 and a brother John Boyd in 1942. He is survived by his wife Jane of Wickenburg; daughter and son in law Susanna (David) Bohmann of Freemont, California; son Jackson E. Boyd of Dillsburg, PA and grandchildren: Ian & Kyle Bohmann and Eleanor Boyd. The family suggests memorials in Mr. Boyd's memory be made to the charity of choice. Graveside services and interment will take place in Harrisburg Cemetery, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. A Celebration of Life will be held in Wickenburg at a later date.
