It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Anton "Tony" Bucklew. He was not just an amazing and loving father and grandfather; he was a true friend to many and a kind-hearted soul who always put others first.
Anton was born on December 29, 1962, and passed away on December 24, 2024. He was born in Sheridan, MI, to Alvin and Barbara Johnson and moved to Aguila as a young boy in the early 70's. He attended Aguila Elementary and Wickenburg High School growing up; with his love for heavy equipment machinery, he began his career working at Martori Farms and later working in drilling for Campbell's Drilling, Layne Christensen, and Drill Tech while also spending some time working for RE Monks. According to close friends and colleagues, he was a fountain of knowledge to Aguila history and seemed to always know where there was old, abandoned pipelines, wells, and Native American Artifacts.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alvin Johnson, his mother, Barbara Bucklew, and his father, David "Buck" Bucklew. He is also preceded by his brothers: Jerry Stamm, Kenneth Bucklew, and Pete Bucklew. He is survived by his four children and eight grandchildren: Chandra DiCamillo (Tim DiCamillo, Ro, Landon, Urijah and Declan), Justin Bucklew (Brock), Andre Bucklew (Eliana), and Kaitlyn Brinkley (Jake Brinkley, Taya and Tessa).
He was a man's man, and his genuine spirit and willingness to help anyone in need made him a gentle giant in our lives. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. We have been blessed by so many of his friends that came out to express their love and gratitude towards him in his last week and were blessed with so many stories of his character, humor, and kindness.
As we remember Tony, let's celebrate the wonderful memories we shared with him. His legacy of kindness and love will continue to inspire us all. You will always hold a special place in our lives, and you will be deeply missed. A celebration of life will be held in his honor Saturday, February 1st, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Tom Walden Memorial Park (Next to the Aguila Fire Station) in Aguila, AZ.
