Charles Strack

Charles E. "Chuck" Strack passed away peacefully on June 8th in Wickenburg with his loved ones by his side. He was born in Endicott, NY, on May 14th, 1935 to Charles and Kathleen Strack. His family moved to Glendale, CA when he was six, and he spent his school years there until graduation from high school. He was active in the Boy Scouts, athletics, student government, and his church. Upon graduation, he attended Stanford University, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. After spending some time in the army, he and his family moved to Phoenix, AZ where he was employed by General Electric. His career then took him to Seattle and to the Silicon Valley area of California, where he continued to be involved of all aspects of the computer industry. He returned to the Phoenix area in 1994 and spent the last years of his successful career with EDG Taping Equipment before retiring. It was here that he married the love of his life, Karen, in 1998. In 2001, they moved to Wickenburg, where they have had many happy years being involved in community activities, the Elks, and the First Presbyterian Church. In addition, his activities involved his continuing love of computers, working on building his sailboat, and spending time with the many friends from near and far who loved him. Chuck is survived by his wife, Karen, daughter Charlene Underbrink, step-sons James L. Anderson and Paul E. Anderson, his sister and brother-in-law Marta and Jay Gregory, and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bob and Bobbi Walker. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and his 8 grandchildren-Jonathan, Katie, Michael, Ben, Paul, Seth, Dylan and Virginia. He was a very special grandfather to all of them. All who knew him were blessed by his warmth and caring spirit. He was preceded in death by his son Douglas Strack and his step-son Mark Anderson. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at the First Presbyterian Church in Wickenburg, 180 N. Adams St. at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley or the First Presbyterian Church.
