Everyone Loved Deonne

Deonne Larsen
October 1, 1929 - January 31, 2025

On Friday, January 31, 2025, Deonne Marie Larsen, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side. Sensing her time was near, she spent her final days preparing-polishing her nails, organizing her desk, and patiently awaiting the arrival of her loved ones.

Deonne was born on October 1, 1929, in Pender, Nebraska. She grew up on a farm during the Great Depression. Life was challenging, with no electricity, running water, or indoor plumbing. One of her happiest childhood memories was receiving an apple each Christmas.-and often walked miles to a one-room schoolhouse.

In 1947, she met Jack Larsen, the love of her life, they married a year later. After the wedding, they decided to move to Los Angeles. Soon, three children, Jeri Lu, Jan Louise, and James Thomas joined the family.

In the early 1960s, Deonne began art lessons at a community center. Her first painting was of her husband Jack golfing. Her motto was, "If I have been blessed with some talent, it has been supplemented by a great desire to paint." Humble and kind, she never wanted to inconvenience anyone.

In 1964, the family moved to La Crescenta, California. In 1980, she and Jack retired to Green Valley, Arizona, where they enjoyed 26 wonderful years. In 2006, they moved to Wickenburg, Arizona, to be closer to Jan and family. After Jack's passing in 2013, Deonne moved to My Father's Retirement Ranch where she was welcomed by many.

Deonne was a treasured friend and a constant source of joy to everyone who knew her. Her laughter was contagious, and her presence always brought happiness. She never stepped out without makeup, lipstick, and a stylish outfit. She had a love for sewing, playing the organ, crafting, and baking delicious apple pies!

She leaves behind her daughters, Jeri Lynch (Jerry) and Jan Heineman (Ken), eight grandchildren-Justin Larsen, Matthew Heineman, Corey Lynch, Mackenzie Laurino, Riley Lynch, Ashley Larsen, Jamie Larsen, Talia Larsen-and ten great-grandchildren.

On September 28, 2024, Deonne celebrated her 95th birthday with a smile, watching eight of her great-grandchildren play on the lawn, surrounded by her daughters and their spouses, as well as her grandchildren and their spouses. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories-one she would never forget.

Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Rustic Ranch and Hospice of the Valley for the care and kindness they bestowed upon our mother.

Though her passing leaves a deep void in our hearts, there is comfort in knowing she is reunited with Jack, and will spend eternal life in Heaven, with Jesus.

Her Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
