Donald R. Crawford passed away suddenly at home in Congress, AZ on November 10, 2020. He was born in Death Valley Junction, California in 1936 to the late David and Glessie Addline Crawford.
Don joined the US Air Force at 17 and served for 20 years, including tours of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He served as a Flight Engineer for USAF cargo aircraft including a variety of C-130 and C-5 models. He always had stories of his service at home and abroad. He met his wife, "Mickie", while at Tachikawa Air Base in Japan and they married in 1967.
After retiring from the Air Force, Don moved to Southern Utah and worked for 10 years as the Maintenance Superintendent of a uranium mine owned by Plateau Resources. After retiring from this second career, the Crawfords moved to Arizona where they enjoyed traveling the Western US in their RV.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Fujie "Mickie" Crawford, sister, Georgia Lea Hardy, children, Michael Crawford, Angela Underwood, and Teena Werley and their families -- 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren.
Due to restrictions from the COVID pandemic, a military honors ceremony limited to immediate family members will be held at the end of November at the Prescott National Cemetery. A separate remembrance will be held at Death Valley, California at a later date.
