Doris Anderson

December 25, 1931 — August 3, 2010

Doris Ann Anderson (Dory), 78, went to be with her Savior on Tuesday, August 03, 2010 at the home of her daughter in Wickenburg, Arizona after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer. She was preceded in death by her, parents Lee and Lillie Hendershot, husband Richard, sister, Virginia (Ginger) Hustoft, and sister-in-law Marion Hendershot. Dory lived a fulfilled life, surrounded by the love of family, friends, and The Lord Jesus Christ. She was born on December 25, 1931 in Wahpeton, ND. She graduated High School in Stanwood, Washington where she met and married her high school sweetheart Richard. Dory and Richard moved to Alaska soon after the birth of their first child. They raised their family in Palmer, Alaska and then traveled around the world, working in far off places including Africa and Iran. They moved from California to Wickenburg, Arizona in 1985 and Dory opened TravelMasters with her daughter, and passed on the business to her granddaughter and great granddaughters. She always enjoyed being a travel agent and loved to experience new and different places especially cruising, which she did 4-5 times a year. Dory was a 50 year member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was always outgoing and had so many valuable relationships because of her loyal friendships with people, she was truly known and loved. She was very involved in her local church. She was an active member of the Gospel Outreach Church in Wickenburg and after moving to Colorado the Evangelical Free Church in Canon City. Dory left a great legacy of faith for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly. Her family will have private services in Wickenburg. A memorial service will be held at a later date both in Wickenburg, AZ and in Canon City, CO. In lieu of flowers, Dory requested that contributions may be made to Gospel Outreach Christian School, Wickenburg, Arizona.
