Douglas Myron McLean of Wickenburg, Arizona at the age of sixty eight passed away in Surprise Arizona on February 22nd, 2011. Doug was born November 12th, 1942 in Wadena Saskatchewan Canada to George and Lillie McLean. Doug grew up in Saskatchewan and attended school in Saskatoon, Mullingar, and Wadena. Doug loved Saskatchewan and would often talk about his fond memories of his youth and growing up on the farm. The stories he told of the harsh winters was enjoyed by all who he bestowed with his memories. While he was living in Wadena, Doug became a member of the Army Cadets of Canada. When Doug was a young man and done going to school, he decided to make his way in the world and went to Calgary Alberta. It was in Calgary that he met friends that led him to work at Fort McMurry in a mine. Sometime after that his journeys took him to Yorkton, SK where he met his future wife of forty three years Sandy. They met at a wedding where he was the best man and she was the maid of honor. They soon married and embarked on a life together. Doug and Sandy journeyed west to British Columbia where they had two wonderful children, Doug and Karen. Doug was an entreuprenuer and owner of a car dealership. It was this love of being self employed that led him to being the CEO of Cassia Petroleum and then Northern Properties, which brought him to the United States of America. Doug and Sandy packed up the family and headed south to sunny Arizona. Doug became a contractor and land developer. Doug and Sandy devoted much of their life to developing Mariposa Heights, a subdivision in Wickenburg. He was a long time member of the Lions organization and would spend many Saturdays loading up newspapers to be recycled to benefit people in need. Doug and Sandy loved living in Arizona, while he had those warm memories of Saskatchewan he often spoke of how difficult it would be to take a harsh Saskatchewan winter after all these years of basking in the Arizona sun. Doug leaves behind his loving wife of forty three years Sandy McLean, his daughter Karen McLean-Peiffer, son-in-law Bryan Peiffer, and grandchildren Morgan and Collin, his son Doug McLean Jr., daughter-in-law Colleen, granddaughter Kayleen and another granddaughter on the way.
