Ena L. Lamar (Lilly) McGuire was born April 18, 1914, the first of seven children born to C.H. And Ila Lamar of Virgil, Kansas. In 1916 Ena's family moved to northern Arizona, where her father worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1923 the moved to Morristown, Az. Ena lived in Morristown the majority of her life, and had the distinction of being the town's oldest resident until she passed away on August 2, 2013. Ena attended Morristown School in 1923, when the school was located in a building that had once been a saloon. A new school was built at the current location and she graduated from that in 1928, the only graduate that year. She then attended Wickenburg High School and after her studies there, she went on to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Az. She took the train to attend high School and college as that was the only transportation available to her. Ena's six siblings and her son also attended Morristown School and Wickenburg High School. Ena Married Robert Lilly in 1933. In 1934, her only child Howard Lilly, was born. He was the joy of her life, though her marriage ended in divorce. Ena was employed at Castle Hot Springs Resort Hotel for many years and did season resort work in Reno, Nevada and Phoenix, Az for Westward Ho Hotel. In 1953 Ena married Erwin (Mac) McGuire. Together the leased and operated the Morristown Grocery Store and Gas Station for 17 years. The also delivered the mail to Castle Hot Springs during those years. Ena was involved in many local organizations. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Wickenburg for 65 years, and was Worthy Matron in 1970. She was the president of Soroptimists in Wickenburg, and helped charter the club in Prescott. She also was a charter member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and regent for three years, when that group met in Wickenburg. Additionally, Ena was a charter member of General Federated Women's Club of Morristown. Eventually, the McGuires retired to the home they built together on Rockaway Hills Drive in Morristown. They spent those years enjoying fishing trips to various lakes in Arizona. They loved their camping trips in the desert. Ena cared for Erwin in his illness until his death in 2008. Ena was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Erwin McGuire, her mother and father, and by five of her siblings. She is survived by her son, Howard (Louise) Lilly of Chino Valley, Az, and grandchildren Wayne (Jane) Lilly of Phoenix, Az and Patricia (Kevin) Johnson of Tulsa, OK., Great-grandchildren include Korena, Leigh Ann, A.J. and Travis. She is also survived by her sister Ila May (John) Sutherlin of Glendale, Az. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ena has spent the last 10 months of her life in Aspen Creek Care Home in Prescott Valley enjoying the activities and fellowship at the home. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Morristown Cemetery.
