Erlene Rubash was born Erlene Carol Dixon to Howard and Stella Dixon on March 20, 1948, in Wickenburg, Arizona. Erlene was raised in Wickenburg, attended Wickenburg High School and competed in the Miss Gold Nugget competition. She met and eventually married the love of her life Billy Rubash who preceded her in death in 2017. They enjoyed a marriage of nearly 50 years together. Erlene had a talent for everything she tried: sewing, ceramics, crochet and cake decorating were some of the many crafts at which she excelled. She enjoyed traveling the state of Arizona with Billy, spending time with her family and occasionally wrestling with the one armed bandits in Laughlin, Nevada. Erlene's greatest role was that of caregiver and nurturer. She helped raise her sister Debby (Dixon) Zerby and brother Howard Dixon; she cared for her and Billy's children Troy Rubash, Tracy (Rubash) Land and Billy Rubash; has nurtured her grandchildren Perscilla, Cruz, Sergio, Gabriella and Alexis, her 3 great grandchildren Elisabeth, Anna and Emerson and many other friends and family members. Erlene died in her home on November 8, 2019, of complications from lung cancer. She spent her final days being cared for by the people she had cared for throughout her life.
