Eugene McPherson

September 26, 1945 — September 10, 2021

Earl Eugene "Gene" McPherson was born September 26, 1945, to Arnold and Elsie (McDonald) McPherson, the third of six children. He spent his youth in Mills, Wyoming, and attended Natrona County High School before leaving to join the Navy as a telecommunications technician, serving his Country on aircraft carriers worldwide. He returned to Casper, Wyoming in 1968 where he met the love of his life, Joyce Hornecker. They met in September and were married by March and celebrated 52 years together. Their children, Ed and Stacey, followed shortly after and Gene and Joyce raised their children and a handful of others all over Wyoming. Gene continued his telecommunications work with various telephone companies before finally retiring in 2007. Gene loved spending his free time reading Western novels, exploring the desert, crafting treasures out of his desert finds, and spending as much time as possible with his family. When Joyce joined him in retirement the couple spent a decade in their newfound home of Salome, AZ before Gene went home to his Lord and Savior on September 10, 2021, with his devoted wife and two sons at his side. Gene was preceded in death by his daughter Stacey, sister Linda, brother Dick and his two parents. He is survived by his beloved wife, son Ed, his honorary son Rich, three brothers, Bill, John and bob, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held for Gene on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Grace Community Church in Salome, AZ.
