Wickenburg, Arizona, resident Flora Ann McDonald returned to her Lord September 11, 2012. Flora was born July 16, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri, the only child of Lester and Bessie Perrey of Birmingham, Missouri. She attended North Kansas City High School. During her stint as an Air Force wife, she traveled across the country, living in California, Colorado, and Georgia. Flora worked as a bookkeeper and homemaker while raising two children. After a fifteen year position as an executive secretary, retired from Sears in 1983. At that time she met and married Howard McDonald, and relocated to his farm outside Maquoketa, Iowa. She enjoyed the rural life, including many cats, "barn," "working," or otherwise. Retirement allowed Flora to travel the West and Midwest to visit friends and relatives. After losing Howard in 2002, she moved to Cameron, Missouri. She relocated to Wickenburg in 2010, where she enjoyed two sunny years. She found her health and mobility improved as she took morning walks each day, taking to the heat better than some natives. She enjoyed her cat, Peanut, reading, music, shopping, attending Calvary Baptist Church, and a good steak. Her strong faith, strength of character and generous heart touched all who knew her. Flora is survived by her son Michael R. Gover of Cameron, Missouri; her daughter Donna D. Drake (Daryl) of Wickenburg, Arizona; grandsons Seth R. Gover (Morgan) of Stuttgart, Germany, Adam R. Gover of Cameron, Missouri, and Colin M. Whiting of Riverside, California; Great-grandchildren Tristan, Sadie, Addie, and Talon. She was blessed with "extra" daughters, Dixie Karabin and Lynn Snowden, as well as loving family and friends all over the country. She will be missed by many. Graveside services will be held in Elwood, Iowa at a later date.
