Frances K. "Fran" Boan was born October 29, 1915 in Dubach, Louisiana to Charles Kelley and Donie Green Kelley. She was raised there and attended schools there. She graduated from Louisiana Tech and later moved to Wyoming. Fran began teaching at a rural ranch school about 90 miles out of Rawlings, Wyoming in the town of Baroil. She later taught at several schools in southern Wyoming. She married James W. Boan and they eventually made their home in Cheyene. They came to Arizona permanently in 1985 and had been wintering here prior to that time. Moving to Wickenburg in 1991. Fran was a member of the Elks Auxiliary as well as a volunteer at the Desert Caballeros Museum for years. She also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wickenburg. She was preceded in death by her husband James W. Boan in March of 2000 and is survived by her son James Kelley Boan (Elizabeth) of Severna Park, Maryland, sister Charlene Urban of Laramie, Wyoming and grandchildren Sarah and Christopher Boan both of Severna Park, MD. The family suggests any memorial contributions in Fran's memory be made to Hospice of the Valley 1510 Flower St. Phoenix, AZ 85014. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the fall.
