George M. Stoll, age 83, of Payson, AZ. passed away peacefully on December 6, 2018 in Chandler AZ, after along life of service to family, friends and Country. He was born August 10, 1935 in Bayport, New York to George & Louise Stoll. He grew up in Bayport with his lifelong best friend Donald Houston, and after serving in the Navy married his wife Carole Adeline Stoll in 1959 until she passed away in 1994. Together they raised 6 children, all of whom survive. The family began in Bayport, where he taught High School, later moving to Vermont, and finally Arizona where he finished his career in education. \n\nIn 1997 he married Jean R. Jordan and shared 15 years of marriage before her passing in 2013. He then relocated to Payson AZ. to be near family, finally entering assisted living care in Chandler with his constant and faithful companion, his little dog Zoey.\n\nHe was known for his quick wit, broad and wide-ranging knowledge and his service to others, participating in court advocacy for children, tutoring young people in mathematics, and working as a hospital volunteer among other interest during his retirement years. He loved fishing, woodworking and was avidly interested in politics, and was involved also with the Masons.\n\nHe is survived by his sons Ronald Stoll of Tucson, Charles Stoll of Orford, NH., Cathy West of Wickenburg, AZ., Karen Wilson of Sacramento, CA., Michael Stoll and Ed Stoll, both of Payson, AZ., and his many grandchildren.\n\nA service will be held at the Service Ramada on Saturday, January 5th of family and friends at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona 23029 Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024. \n\nThe family requests that in place of gifts and flowers that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org in his name.
