George Edward Wilkins was born March 15, 1933 in Salem Illinois to B.B. and Mame Wilkins.\n\nWhen George was 8 years old the family moved to Prescott, Arizona. He grew up a cowboy, while also learning the carpenter trade from his father.\n\nWhile in high school he met a new girl, Vivian Seaman, who had moved up from Phoenix, and they fell in love and were married July 31, 1952. They had 4 children, 3 born in Prescott-Rebecca Lynn (Norris) 1954, Debra Jo (Wright) 1956 and George Wilkins Jr in 1958 and Stefanie Kay (Kirkendall) born in Wickenburg in 1970.\n\nGeorge was a Christian, a quiet, kind and caring man who worked hard for many years. He loved his family and taught them to ride horses, fish and hunt, camp and explore and most of all to love the Lord and to be honest and trustworthy.\n\nIn 1957 he went to work for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife as a trapper, working at ranches around Arizona and finally landing in Wickenburg in 1962 where he remained. Predator control was being phased out and he quit and went back into construction for many years in Wickenburg. George and Vivian built eight new homes in Wickenburg, as well as remodeling numerous homes.\n\nIn retirement he and Vivian traveled and explored the western U.S., Mexico, Hawaii and Canada. They spent several summers on the Oregon coast and then discovered the beautiful mountains of Southern Utah and had their summer home in Beaver for several years.\n\nGeorge was in the Prescott National Guard for 8 years, the Wickenburg Volunteer Fire Department, the Saddle Club, Roping Club, Elks and Gold Shirt Gang.\n\nHe loved the Lord and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. He passed away peacefully at his home in Wickenburg. \n\nGeorge was preceded in death by his parents, BB and Mame Wilkins, sister Frances\n\nField, son George Wilkins Jr, and daughter Becky Norris and grandson Jake Thomas.\n\nHe is survived by his wife Vivian Wilkins and his brother Bob Wilkins of Newton, Kansas. He is also survived by daughters Debra Jo Wright (Paul), Stefanie Kirkendall and Kimberly Wilkins (George) all of Wickenburg. Also, seven grandchildren, Morton (Jonny) Thomas, George Wilkins III (Emily), July Hogue (John) and Stefan Kirkendall all of Wickenburg. R.J. Wilkins (Sarah) of Minnesota, Jaimie Melilli (Matt) of Nevada and Cody Waddell (Chad) of Peoria. Also 13 great grandchildren.\n\nGraveside services were held Saturday May 30th at Wickenburg Cemetery.
