Hayden Brown

February 10, 1913 — December 22, 2011

Hayden S. Brown, age 98, passed away December 22, 2011 in Wickenburg. He was born in Plemons, Texas to Flavius & Susie Brown. The family moved to Arizona when Hayden was 4 years old and he was raised in the Salome area. He attended schools and began working at an early age to help support the family. Hayden then enlisted in the U.S. Army serving from 1942 to 1946 attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and being stationed in the Burma-China Asiatic Theatre. Following his military service he returned to Arizona and began working with the Arizona Highway Dept, working in the western area of the state. He retired in 1978. Hayden was a lifetime member of Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post. In his later years he worked fixing appliances and automobiles. He was a very giving and hospitible man. He was preceded in death by his first wife Marjorie Brown and brothers Ted, Arron and Arthur Brown and sisters Nellie Simcox and Annie Campbell as well as 2 half brothers Lemuel and Oliver Brown. Hayden is survived by his wife Margie Stoker-Brown of Salome and step-daughters, Geneva Skog of Napa, ID, Frida Ludwig of Snowflake, AZ, Bonnie Jean Skeen of California, Nephew Melvin Simcox and Debbie Simcox and their son Christopher Simcox all of Salome and 2 grandchildren, nieces Susan Simcox Gossard of Davis, CA, and Virginia Lee Havins of Salome. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Brown Family Cemetery in Salome.
