James Moren

June 15, 1936 — January 4, 2022

James (Jim) Levi Moren, age 85, of Wickenburg, Arizona, passed away on January 4, 2022, from unexpected heart failure.

Jim was born in Phoenix, Arizona to Joseph and Naomi Moren in June, 1936. He was the youngest of three sons, and grew up with his brothers, Bill and Bob. After high school, he joined the National Guard and in December, 1960 he married Patricia Mathis. Jim then served 7 months with the US Air Force in Germany. Jim and Patt brought up two daughters and one son. While raising the family, Jim worked for the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. His job took him through the southwest region to New Mexico, California, and then back to Arizona. After 31 years of service to the railroad, he and his wife Patt, retired to Yarnell, Arizona, a place that Jim was fond of. They eventually settled in Wickenburg, Arizona.

Native to Arizona, Jim made friends wherever he lived. He loved the whistle of a train and walking around the park greeting neighbors. Jim enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball, and was an avid reader. He always had a story or a joke or two to tell. Although Jim was typically the quiet one in the room, his laugh was contagious, humor endearing, and his smile heartwarming. He will be forever loved and missed.

Jim was a kind and loving partner to Patt, his wife of 61 years, and a devoted father to three children: Terri Bennett, Kathi Ray, Jimmy Moren (and his wife Deborah). He was blessed with five grandchildren: Kristi Jones, David Bennett, Laura Crabtrey, and Emily and Sydney Moren. He is also survived by his oldest brother, Bill Moren and was preceded in passing by his brother Bob.
