James Nikes

James "Pop" Nikes III, age 69, passed away on March 25, 2024, in Surprise, AZ, after a long

battle with Dementia. Jim was the 1 st of 3 children, born on February 28, 1955 in St. Joseph, MO

to James and Mary (Velazquez) Nikes. He graduated from Central High School, class of 1974.

From an early age Jim began his life-long love of hunting and fishing. Jim travelled the world on

varies jobs with his career as a Non-Destructive Weld Interpreter. Pop was a good man who's

carefree nature and fun loving attitude made for a great time. 

Through a series of strokes, Jim lost his ability to speak- but he was still (in) there. If you'd ask him, "Jim, have you been

behaving?", he'd flash a big Jimbo-grin and let out a loud sly laugh! That aways warmed our

hearts. His laughter never left him, making everyone smile. He is survived by his son, James

Dean Nikes IV and daughter-in-law Sarah, daughter, Sylvia Nikes and sister 

Tami (Nikes) Hagen. He is proceeded in death by his father, James Dean Nikes II, 

mother Mary (Velazquez) Nikes, and brother Tony Nikes. There will be a celebration of life planned for a later date.
