John Harmon

Mr. John C. Harmon, age 74, passed away March 27, 2012 in Sun City West, Arizona. John was born September 7, 1937 in Merrimac, Kentucky to James S. Harmon and Mary L. Malone Harmon. He was raised there and attended school there later enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps serving from 1955 to 1958. Following his military service he returned to the area and began working for International Harvester. He married Mary Ganz March 27, 1960 in Ottawa, IL. He also farmed for a brief time and later began working in Carpentry and was self employed. He was a member of the Carpenter's Union in Geneva, IL He later worked at the Lasalle Nuclear Plant until retiring. He enjoyed his dogs and oil painting and spent hours online chatting with other tractor enthusiasts and studying his genealogy. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Mary Harmon and a brother David Harmon and sister Rose Marie Goss and 3 nephews, Bryten Goss, Joe Daniel Buchanan and Christopher Peterson. John is survived by his wife Mary of Circle City, Az, Children: Daniel J. Harmon, Deborah L. Cooper and Julie Ann Harmon, Grandchildren: Nicolette G. Hamilton, Kelsey E. Harmon, Elizabeth Ann Harmon, Alexandra M. Harmon, brothers James (Shirley) Harmon, Darrel Harmon both of Ottawa, IL., Seven sisters, Salley (Javier) Perez of Elgin, IL, Shirley (Ken) Gielow of Grandridge, IL., Mary Lue (Bernie) Whalen of Olympia, WA, Linda (Bill Pearson) Wilkerson of Streator, IL., Donna (Dave) Emerick of Ottawa, IL., Elise Harmon of Ottawa, IL., and Theresa Harmon of Montrose, CA., sister-in-law Laurie Harmon and several nieces and nephews and great-niece and great-nephews. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Wickenburg Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials in John's memory be made to the American Cancer Society.
