John Price

John Garner Price, a long-time resident of Blythe died suddenly in Yarnell, AZ, on May 8, 2013. John was 80 years old. John was the son of John Henry Price and Mamie (McDaniel) Price, born in Boise City, OK, on August 1, 1932. John was the third child in a family of nine siblings, all of whom grew up in Blythe and graduated from PVHS. John is survived by his son, John Mark Price of Peeples Valley, AZ, his grandson Joshua Price of Hemet and great-grandchildren John Henry and Hailey, and granddaughter Shannon of New Delhi, India, and great grandson Jordan Talwar. John's son Michael of Yarnell, and John's wife, Joyce, both preceded John in death. Surviving brothers and sisters include Dorothy Cox of Golden Valley, AZ, Evelyn Edwards of Gilchrist, OR, Norman Price (Gail) of Lebanon, MO, Willis Price (Linda) of Granbury, TX, Donald Price (Phyllis) of Temecula, CA, Sharon Latto of Anaheim Hills, and Brenda Price of Comanche, TX. One sister, Melba Spaugy (Leon), preceded John in death. He is survived by a great many nephews, nieces, and others who loved him dearly. After arriving in Blythe in 1942, John attended Blythe schools, graduating from PVHS in 1950. In 1952 John married W. Joyce (Peek) Price in Quartzsite, AZ, and raised their two boys in the valley. While living in Blythe John worked for Hayward Lumber Co, Western Gillette, System 99, and Conway Freight Lines, until his retirement and subsequent move to Yarnell. He was a member of the Blythe Elks Lodge, the American Legion, and a volunteer fireman for the Blythe Fire Department. John was a master builder and driver of racing boats, and excelled in cabinetry and fine woodwork. All his friends will remember him for his sharp wit and elaborate practical jokes. He was an avid sportsman who loved fishing and hunting. Services will be held at the Blythe First Baptist Church, 10:00 May 17th .
