Mack L. Miller, age 87, passed away May 10, 2013 in Sun City West, Arizona. Mack was born May 17, 1925 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Sollis Franklin & Julia Ann Miller. He was raised and attended schools in the Blackwell area and later enlisted in the U.S. Naval Aviation Program where he trained to be a pilot just prior to the end of WWII. Following his military service he attended Oklahoma State University where he earned a B.S. degree in Soil Science and worked as a Soil Scientist for 37 years. He married Nora May Comstock in 1953 in Woodward, Oklahoma and they were married for 54 years before Nora passed away in 2007. During their years of marriage, he and Nora lived in various locations in Arizona and Oklahoma and eventually settled in Wickenburg in 2006. Mack was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and during his life he had been active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Most important in his life was his family. He also continued his joy of flying by being a licensed private pilot for many years. Mack was preceded in death by his wife Nora May Miller in 2007 and a grandson Mark Miller in 1997. Mack is survived by children: Greg (Valerie) Miller of Taos, NM, Karen (Pruett) Small of Prescott, Leigh Ann Hanley of Phoenix, Steve Miller of Phoenix, and Paul(Kim) Miller of Phoenix, a sister Patricia Henson of Texas and grandchildren: Ben Miller, Ashley Packer, Shannon Diehl, Collin Miller and Kelsey Miller, and 4 great-grandchildren. Mack is also survived by a brother in law and two sisters in law and many nieces and nephews. A visitation and family and friends gathering will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wickenburg Funeral Home with a Committal Service to be held on May 24, 2013 at Mt. View Cemetery in Prescott, AZ. The family wish to thank the staff at My Father's Retirement Ranch for the excellent care given to Mack during his stay there and also suggests any memorial contributions in Mack's memory be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
