Marcella McCaughey

Marcella McCaughey was born Novmeber 15, 1919 in Lone Oak, Texas. She was raised there until 1931 when the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. As a teenager she worked at a movie theater in Phoenix as well as an old-fashioned drugstore where she would play the piano. Marcella graduated from Phoenix Union High School and shortly thereafter she married Donald W. McCaughey on May 19, 1939 in Phoenix. They had one son, Ronald who preceded her in death in 1981. Her husband Don owned and operated Arizona Mill Works for years and Marcella was a talented artist. They moved to Wickenburg in 1974 so Don could play golf and Marcella pursued her love of art establishing her own art gallery Marcella's Gallery. She enjoyed oil painting primarily and was a gifted musician as well. Marcella often played bridge with a group at the Wickenburg Country Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Don in 2003 and her son Ronald in 1981. Marcella is survived by her nephews Logan Maury McFadden and Dewey McFadden both of California, nieces Diane & Debbie and special friend and caregiver Jaqui LaFon (Harvey) of Wickenburg. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Wickenburg Funeral Home with visitation one prior to service and interment to follow in the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery.
