Wickenburg lost a friendly, generous citizen with the passing of Marion Davidson. Her passion for animals was well known as she supported the Wickenburg Humane Society with her time, talents and treasure.
Marion was born in Goshen, Indiana to James and Margaret Johnston. She spent her early days there and attended Hanover College and then Indiana University where she received a BS in Business and earned a teaching certificate. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She taught in Indiana and Florida before coming to Wickenburg in 1976.
Marion worked for many years as an administrator at Wickenburg Tennis and Guest Ranch. It was then that she and Bill Davidson were married. She and Bill enjoyed traveling in their motor home and spent time in Snowflake during the summers. Bill died in 2001.
Marion is survived by step-children, Nancy Davidson Andrews and William E. Davidson. There are 8 grandchildren; Christopher, Noell, Nicholas, Marcy, Kimberly, Karrie, Madison and Melissa. There are 9 great grandchildren; Corrine, Charles, Matthew, Nathan, Tyler, Elizabeth, Lily, Austin and Olivia.
Marion was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing with many different groups. She also enjoyed reading, but her joy and passion was helping others in Wickenburg. The Library Society Board and the Wickenburg Community Services Corporation along with other Wickenburg organizations benefited from her contributions and energy. Her greatest passion was for the Wickenburg Humane Society and she spent much time and money helping them get started in their present location.
Marion was a compassionate Facebook chronicler of events at My Fathers Retirement Ranch both human and animal. With her camera she recorded parties, celebrations and animal antics, especially the "alpaca adventures" and occasional visitors such as the snow goose. She made us aware of the beauty around us.
Aside form all the generous things she did, Marion will be remembered for her humor and great smile. She was a caring and thoughtful friend and will be greatly missed by many.
There will not be a service at this time but memorial gifts may be sent to Wickenburg Humane Society, at 4000 Industrial Rd., Wickenburg, AZ 85390 or The Wickenburg Library, at 164 Apache St., Wickenburg, AZ 85390.
