Mark Robert Workman lost his long battle with cancer on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. He peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his wife and daughters. Mark was born on September 30, 1953 in Wickenburg Arizona. He was the son of Claude Robert Workman and Elizabeth Ann Gilchrist. Mark grew up, attended school, and cherished a childhood full of wonderful memories in the town of Wickenburg. He graduated from Wickenburg High School in 1971. He became a volunteer firefighter, took to the trade of masonry work and met the love of his life before leaving his home town. In 1976 Mark married Patsy Burris Workman and moved to Flagstaff, Arizona where he put his fierce work ethic into action and established his own concrete business. He and Patsy opened Workman Concrete in 1984. Mark was a hard worker who loved his family and enjoyed hunting, scouting, baseball/ softball, coaching and being with friends. Mark and Patsy had three daughters who also developed a passion for their Dads favorite sport of baseball. The three girls took to softball at a young age and played through their college years. Mark attended hundreds of their games, always being a coach and their biggest fan. If he was not working he was tinkering in his shop, scouting in the woods, hunting, or coaching/watching softball. Mark shared many wonderful and exciting hunts with close friends and his daughters. He also traveled the world hunting in Africa and fishing in Alaska with his beautiful bride alongside him.
Mark became a Mason in 1983 which led him to becoming the Past Master of Lodge #7, Flagstaff, Arizona in 1990. In 2000 Mark and Patsy, along with their youngest daughter, moved back to Wickenburg where he continued Workman Concrete and spent precious time with his family and friends. We always said, "You can take Mark out of Wickenburg, but you could never take Wickenburg out of Mark." He truly loved his hometown and said it was the greatest place in the world to grow up! His memories were priceless!
Mark is well remembered by his contagious laugh and love of joke telling. He is survived by his wife Patsy, daughters April (Craig) Nicholson of Corpus Christi, TX, Cory (David) Brunson of New River, AZ, and Audrey (Chaz) Antos of Flagstaff, AZ. Grandchildren Cade, Avery, Payton, Colby Nicholson and Cole and Cooper Brunson. He joins in heaven his parents Claude and Beth and sister Ruth Ann.
A celebration of life will be on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Coffinger Park in Wickenburg, AZ. Service will begin at 11am under the Ramada. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
