Mary F. Hopper-DeMars, age 89, passed away August 9, 2013 in Surprise, Arizona. Mary was born June 4, 1924 in Lawrence County, Indiana and raised in Mitchell. She attended schools there and following her schooling she began working at the local dime store briefly before she met and married Mack M. Hopper in November of 1947 and they made their home in Mitchell. She was primarily a homemaker until she and Mack moved to Arizona in 1961 settling in Morristown. Mary worked as a postal clerk in Morristown and also El Mirage until retiring in 1989 after 21 years of service. She was a charter member of the Morristown Federated Women's Club and also the Red Hat Society of Morristown. She served on the Morristown School Board at one time. She was very skilled in embroidery and was known for her work. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Mack M. Hopper in 1999 and second husband Larry DeMars in 2002 as well as a sister Alma Merry. She is survived by her children: Mack Steven (Sharon) Hopper of Buckeye, Az., Jerry (Rae Ann) Hopper of Peoria, Az., Amy Bell(Jeff Smith) of Payson, Az., and Rebecca (Mike) Watson of Wickenburg, 8 grandchildren: Daniel Lee, Heidi Lee, Belinda Buell, Matthew Hopper, Rebecca Stephens, Joshua Hopper, Rachel Chen,and Miranda Watson, as well as 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 16th at 11:00 AM at the Morristown Community Church with Visitation 1 hour prior to services at the church and interment to follow at the Morristown Cemetery.
