Mary W. Miller, age 96, passed away January 2, 2013 in Wickenburg, Arizona. Mary was born April 2, 1916 in Ypsilanti, MIchigan. She attended schools there and later married. While married to her second husband Shan Miller she lived in various locations in the country with him serving in the military. Mary had served as a nursing aide "Gray Lady" while living in North Carolina. In 1964 she came to Arizona settling in Wickenburg. Mary had worked as a waitress for years and worked in many of the local restaurants. She was active in the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was well known as "Poppy Mary" for her fund raising efforts on behalf of the American Legion. For many years she could be seen outside the Wickenburg Post Office as "Poppy Mary". She was also a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Wickenburg and had served on the board of the R & R Respite Center and worked in the Outreach program at the Wise Owl Center. She is survived by her son Edward Miller of Wickenburg. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Wickenburg.
