Clarence Merel Jackson passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020. Merel was the youngest of eight children born to Enoch Winchester Jackson and Mary Louise Jackson on February 14, 1939 in Eckley, Colorado. Merel was a Husband, Father and Great-Grandfather and Uncle. He was a dedicated Marine and Ironworker. Besides Colorado, he lived in California, Wyoming and Washington before settling in Phoenix, Arizona in 1964 with his wife, Betty and their three sons. Merel was larger than life but also had a very sensitive heart for others and doing the right thing. He always tried to help others who had less that him. He was the silent type but dealt life with an iron fist. All those that knew him had total respect for him due to his rules of honor, obeying, and respect for his elders. He loved his John Wayne movies and Gunsmoke and Rifleman TV shows.
He leaves behind his wife of 62 +years, Betty Lee Jackson, 3 children: Vernon Jackson (spouse Wanda), Billy Jackson (spouse Trini), Richie Jackson (spouse Teresa), 7 grandchildren: Nicholas Jackson, Ashaunti Gardner, Maritry Jaquez (spouse Carmen), Elizabeth Fjerstad (spouse Jeff), Brandon Jackson, Greg Jackson (spouse Cenaida), Sophia Jackson, and 5 great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Xavier, Landon, Henry and Jack.
He will be greatly missed. A memorial will be held in the future as soon as the world opens back up for gathering of families and friends.
