Merle Brown

Merle E. Brown, age 82, passed away March 17, 2010 in Phoenix, AZ. Merle was born March 10, 1928 in Kellogg, Idaho to Allan W. Brown and Pearl Thelma Limbocker Brown. He was raised in Kimberly, B.C.. He later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his military service he returned to Kellogg, ID where he began mining. During that time he served as past president of Local #301 United Steel Workers of America. He was also a survivor of the Sunshine Mine Fire-Disaster in 1972. Merle retired in 1981 and came to Wickenburg, Az. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, and the American Legion, Wickenburg Country Club as well as active member of the Mt. Hope Assembly of God Church in Wickenburg and was involved in the initial construction of the church. Merle was preceded in death by his first wife Alma K. Brown in 1977 and a brother Lester Brown in 2008. He is survived by his wife Anita Brown of El Centro, CA. sons: Leroy Brown ( Bonnie) of Kirkland, WA, David Brown of Spokane, WA., and Gerry Brown of Anchorage, AK, brothers Ed Brown (Joan) of Hurricane, UT., Ron Brown (Carol) of Trail, B.C., grandchildren: Chad, Zachary, Dylan, Christopher & Jessica Brown and 1 great-grandchild James Goodwin. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Merle's name may be made to the Mt. Hope Assembly of God Church P.O.
