Michael McKay

Michael William Mckay, of Wickenburg, AZ, passed away on February 23, 2025 at the age of 75.

Michael was born on June 1, 1949, in Nagoya, Japan to Allen Fraser and Marjorie Ann (Tabor) McKay. His father, then a Captain in the United States Air Force, was stationed in Japan at the time of Michael's birth. Being part of an Air Force family, Michael grew up in multiple states including Virginia, Kansas, California, Texas, Michigan and Arizona. He graduated from Prescott High School in 1967. He attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1971.

He spent most of his working life in hospital computing, first at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, MA and finally at the Wickenburg Community Hospital in Wickenburg, AZ until he retired in 2019. Michael's hobbies included photography, playing guitar, and general "tinkering" on projects in and around his home.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Cherie McKay Lewis and son-in-law John Lewis, granddaughter Rebecca Lewis Howland and her husband Daniel Lewis Howland, grandson Ryan Lewis, niece Christine Byerley, nephew Daniel Byerley and former wife Rudee (Ruth) Lange. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother and sister Sandra (McKay) Byerley. He will be buried in the McKay family plot at the Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott, AZ with a private family memorial.
