Sergio Horcos

October 11, 1957 — April 26, 2012

Sergio Enrique Horcos, 54, of Wickenburg, AZ passed away April 26 in an automobile accident. Sergio was born October 11th 1957 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Whitnall High School in Hales Corners Wisconsin when he was 16. He started a musical career upon graduation, and traveled throughout the Twin Cities area. Music was his passion. He was self taught on several instruments and had an amazing voice. He traveled extensively in pursuit of his Music, organizing and performing in various bands throughout the Western United States, until 1988 when he settled in Phoenix. Prior to his current career of Real Estate he had worked in the Construction, Painting, and Trucking industries, but his main interest has always been his music. He met the love of his life, Lori Packer, in 1990, and they were married in Sedona in 1992. They have two children, Sergio Horcos Jr. and Giancarlo Horcos. Sergio was a dedicated father and loved doing things with his family. They lived in Scottsdale until 2000 when they moved to Wickenburg. He was an active and respected member of the Wickenburg community. He served as a member of the board for the Desert Caballeros Western Museum, and was on the School Board for the Congress Elementary School District. He enjoyed spending time with his boys and because of that he assisted with the Wickenburg Boy Scout Troop 299, and also helped coach the Wickenburg Youth Football team. Sergio loved life and was eager to participate in any activity, especially if it involved his family and community. Throughout his involvement with these various other activities, his heart has remained with his music. He has continued pursuing it at every opportunity and over the years he has become a proficient songwriter, producer, and performer. He has performed in numerous concerts and fundraisers. Over a year ago Sergio was diagnosed with stage IV cancer. He fought the disease through radiation treatments and several infections that caused pneumonia which put him in the hospital for several weeks. Through all of his treatment and time in the hospital he always kept a positive attitude, and was an inspiration to many. He never doubted that he could overcome it, and overcome it he did. He recently had a clean scan and was cancer free. On April 23 he participated in "Wickenburg's Got Talent" fundraiser and was thrilled to be able to sing again for the first time since being diagnosed with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Horcos. He is survived by his mother, Louise Horcos of Cudahy, Wisconsin; his three siblings: Mary Cox of Goodyear, Arizona; Kipian Horcos of Cottonwood, Arizona; Robert "Berto" Horcos of Wisconsin; his immediate family: Lori and sons: Sergio Jr. and Giancarlo all of Wickenburg and numerous nephews and nieces. Sergio was a friend to everyone he met, and greeted everyone with a smile and a great big 'bear hug'. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. A Celebration of Sergio' life will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Wickenburg Community Center. Friends may offer online condolences at www.wickenburgfuneralhome.com Arrangement under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be made at Meridian Bank in the name of Lori Horcos in the benefit of Sergio Horcos.
