Shelby L.(Jean) Dey was born on November 21, 1937 near Effie, Minnesota to Victor & Viola (Cline) Parson. She grew up on a farm with six brothers and sisters. She married William (Bill) Dey in 1954, and they raised their four children in northern Minnesota. Additionally, they briefly lived in Kenosha, Wisconsin for three years. In 1974, they moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, where Bill continued to work in the trucking and logging industry. Shortly after that, they found their way to Prescott, Arizona and lived there for five years. In 1980, they moved to Wickenburg, Arizona. She worked at the Frontier Inn for six winter seasons, in addition to logging with Bill and their son Jerome in the White Mountains. She enjoyed sharing the beauty and peace of the desert and mountains. She treasured her life with Bill on their "Ranch" and hosting family and friends. She was baptized and confirmed Lutheran in 1954, and has been a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church since 1980. Her faith, love of God, her church home, and the love and care of family and friends helped her through the loss of her daughter Terri, son Joe, and Bill's battle with Alzheimers.
She is preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Dey, daughter Terri Wayman, son Bob (Joe) Dey, her brothers Val Parson, Larry Parson and Jim Parson, her sister Sharon Thomson, and her parents Victor & Viola Parson.
Jean is survived by her daughter Victoria (Dale) Leinonen of Nokomis, Florida, her son Jerome (Penny) Dey of Chino Valley, Arizona, her sister Myrna Wass and brother Tom Parson, along with eleven grandchildren and twenty seven great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at The Redeemer Lutheran Church on March 22, 2025 at 12:00 pm noon.
