Shirley H. Fackelman, age 82, passed away surrounded by her family on February 12, 2018. Shirley was born on a crab boat September 9, 1935 on the Chesapeake Bay near Snow Hill, Maryland to Gladys and Walter Holbrook. She was raised in Glenside, PA by Edward C. Holbrook and Ethel Irene Brown Holbrook. She graduated college in Pennsylvania with a degree in elementary education. She lived in several states throughout her life, her favorites being Florida, Virginia and Arizona.
She loved music and was an accomplished pianist having played in the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra at one time. She also loved birding, gardening, the ocean and reading. She was a very creative person who liked to write and publish poetry. She also painted with acrylics, loved acting in small theater groups and had a much loved sense of humor. Shirley was active in her church for most of her life and was happiest as the church librarian.
She is survived by her sister, Louise Bassett and her husband Floyd, her daughter Elizabeth Jane Fackelman and her husband Chris, and son Edward Scott Sienkiewicz and his wife Kathy. Grandchildren - Alexandra, Erik, Juliana, and Christopher (CJ). Great grandchildren - Peyton, Brooklyn and Jackson.
