Verna Yoder, age 71, passed away April 23, 2012 in Sun City West, Az. Verna was born January 10, 1941 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Jacob Nathaniel Yoder and Barbara Edna Nisly Yoder. She lived in Arizona since 1970, and worked as a nurse as well as other jobs. She had been in ill health in recent years. Now her health battle is over. Praise the Lord she has no more difficulty breathing and is free of pain. She was a member of the Berean Mennonite Church in Wickenburg, Arizona. She is remembered as a prayer warrior, and was especailly interested in the children as they gathered around her chair after church. She actively kept updated with missionaires in Mexico and Peru, as well as their contacts, praying individually for the growth and needs of each one. In her spare time she enjoyed cutting quilt blocks, piecing tops for loved ones and children and watching the birds in her backyard, especially the quail and hummingbirds. While she was still enjoying relatively good health she gave eleven years in caring for her aging moather in Kansas. Several times she brought her mother with her to Arizona to spend the winter months. She is survived by four sisters, Esther Yoder, Becky (Willis) Nisly and Bertie (Paul) Miller, all of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Clara V. Yoder of Peoria, Arizona and five brothers, Eli J. (Emma) Yoder, Ernest (Irene) Yoder, and Henry (Velma) Yoder, all of Hutchinson, Kansas, Elmer J. (Theresa) Yoder of Denver, Colorado and Andrew J. (Jeanie) Yoder of Patridge, Kansas. Her parents, two infant brothers and a brother Ivan Ray Yoder preceded her in death. Funeral services with visitation were held on Wickenburg on April 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Berean Mennonite Church and concluding services and interment will take place in Hutchinson, Ks on April 28th with burial in Plainview Cemetery.
