Virginia Edwards

May 10, 1940 — October 18, 2024

So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart. For every time you think of me,

I'm right here in your heart. By David M. Romero

Edwards, Virginia Mae

Virginia Mae Edwards passed away peacefully on October 18th 2024, in her home in Surprise,

Arizona. She was born on May 10th, 1940, in Orange, California. After graduating from high

school, Virginia attended the University of Arizona, Tucson, and soon after pursued a career in

Microbiology. Virginia's career took her to many places, including the Walter Reed Medical

Center in Bethesda, Maryland; the University of Southern California; and Israel.

Virginia married John C. Stevens on October 7th, 1989. They both loved to travel, and Virginia

especially loved to travel internationally, which included six continents. Kauai held a special

place in their hearts, where they spent many happy winters. With John's experience as a

successful contractor, they built beautiful homes together in Shingle Springs, California;

Springfield, Oregon; and Wickenburg, Arizona. While John worked on his gourd art, Virginia

would catch up with her girlfriends. She enjoyed volunteering at the Wickenburg Art Museum;

both John and Virginia also volunteered for Hospice of the Valley.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents Roy N. and Alice C. Edwards, her brother, Thomas

N. (Bud) Edwards, and her husband, John C. Stevens.

Virginia leaves behind her nieces Shari R Walters (Eugene), Karen A. Breaux (Eric), and

stepsons Craig Stevens, Kevin Stevens (Karen), and Barry Stevens. She is also survived by great

nieces, nephews, and great-great nephews, as well as many friends.

Virginia was one of a kind with her big heart.

Today, she wants us to remember her not with sadness, but with joy, and how she touched our

lives in so many beautiful ways.

As her family, we would like to thank the Park, Mia Ingram, the amazing caregivers, and

Hospice of the Valley for taking care of her. Forever grateful and never forgotten.
