Wanda Marilyn Dowdy, age 77, passed away October 4, 2012 in Surprise, AZ Wanda was born March 10, 1935 in Phoenix, Arizona to Jim Young and Ola Ann Wilkerson Young. She was raised and attended schools in Phoenix and later attended Beauty College to become a hairdresser. She married Mack Dowdy and made their home in the Wickenburg area. She began working at the telephone company initially and later as a hairdresser which she had done most of her life. Wanda was a very gifted artist and had sold many paintings and works. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and had sung in the Church Choir and was also a member of the Wickenburg Art Club. She participated in a local bowling league several years ago. Wanda was a good homemaker and wonderful grandmother. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Mack Dowdy in 2011. She is survived by her son Gary of Wickenburg and grandsons Jason (Deanna) Dowdy of Singapore and Greg (Christa) Dowdy of Wickenburg and great-grandchildren: Korbyn, Kiyah, Monte, Tanner and Paige. Memorial Mass will be said on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with interment to follow in the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery.
