William John "Bill" Newton was born August 14, 1934 in Williams, Arizona to William Rex and Estella Owings Newton. He graduated from Prescott High School and later worked at the mine in Bagdad, Az. Bill began working as a deputy sheriff with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office in 1961 and worked primarily in the Wickenburg area until he retired in 1981. He then established and operated "The Gun Trader" here in Wickenburg which is still operating in the same location today. He operated the gun shop until 1991 when he sold for health reasons. Bill served on the Wickenbug Town Council from 1986 to 1994. He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Wickenburg. He continued to collect and trade guns and enjoy hunting and four-wheeling after he retired. Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda King. He is survived by his wife Doris of Wickenburg. Children: David Newton (Judy) of Wittmann, Az., Darrel Newton (Dara) of Kirkland, AZ, Gary Newton (Mary) of Wickenburg, Brothers: Bob Newton (Nancy) of Redondo Beach, CA, Ken Newton (Glenda) of Roswell, NM, Rex Newton (Phyllis) of Twin Falls, ID, Les Newton (Tracy) of Douglas, WY, and a sister Verle Nichols of Denver, CO. Grandchildren: Andrea Haga, Cody Newton, Resa Newton, Trina Keil, Ranee Newton, Devin Newton, Jacob Newton, Megan Newton and Samantha Newton and 12 great-grandchildren.
