Wilma Doud, of Wickenburg, AZ, passed away on May 16, 2021. She was born on May 26, 1928 in Farmington, IA to Lloyd and Mary Von Seggen. She graduated from Farmington High School in 1946. On May 30, 1953 she married Richard (Dick) Doud of Athens, MO.
Wilma attended Olivet Nazarene College in Bourbonnais, IL from 1946-1947. Her career involved service at a number of companies as a Bookkeeper (City National Bank, Sundstrand Aviation, University of Delaware), Insurance Claims Officer (DuPont) and Loan Officer/Notary Public (Broward County Teacher's Credit Union).
Dick's career as an art historian took the couple to a number of locales in Colorado, Delaware, Florida and Virginia. All along the way, Dick and Wilma made lifelong friends with whom they kept in touch. Following Dick's retirement from the Smithsonian Institution in 1988, they settled in Wickenburg, AZ.
Wilma's interests included rock hunting, cooking, quilting, volunteering and travel. During their retirement years, Dick and Wilma took numerous trips and hosted friends and family to their home, always eager to help their visitors experience the Arizona desert.
Wilma was a thoughtful, tender and kind individual. She will be truly missed by friends and family.
She is survived by nieces/nephews and cousins.
There will not be a service at this time. A family-led graveside memorial will be scheduled for her and Dick in their final resting site at Athens Cemetery, Athens, MO on a date to be determined. Memorials may be left for Hospice of the Valley Fund Development, 1510 E Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
